Imo's Pizza was born in 1964 when Ed and Margie Imo opened their first restaurant in St. Louis, Missouri. With a simple vision — serve the freshest, most flavorful pizza in the city — they created a recipe that would define an entire regional style of pizza-making for generations to come.

The hallmark of Imo's is the St. Louis-style pizza: a thin, cracker-like crust topped generously with Provel cheese — a proprietary blend of cheddar, Swiss, and provolone developed right here in St. Louis. Every pizza is cut into squares (the "party cut"), making sharing not just easy, but essential to the experience.

Today, Imo's operates across the greater St. Louis area, serving hundreds of thousands of loyal customers who grew up with our pizza and keep coming back for that unmistakable taste of home.

1964

The Original Opens

Ed and Margie Imo open the first Imo's Pizza in St. Louis, Missouri. Armed with a secret Provel cheese recipe and a cracker-thin crust, they introduce St. Louis to a pizza unlike anything else.

1972

First Expansion

Following overwhelming community demand, Imo's opens its second and third locations across St. Louis. The "square beyond compare" slogan is born, capturing the hearts — and appetites — of the city.

1985

Franchise Program Launches

Imo's introduces its franchise model, allowing passionate entrepreneurs across Missouri and Illinois to bring the authentic St. Louis pizza experience to new neighborhoods and communities.
